Printing PDFs as Signature Booklets from WinXP

  1. Open PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  2. Click on the menu bar option File (to open a drop-down menu).
  3. Click on the drop-down menu item option Document Properties… (to open the Document Properties window).
  4. Click on the Description tab.
  5. Near the bottom of the Document Properties window, note the Page Size measurements. If the page size is a standard size or is a page size you've already printed, skip steps 6–14 and continue these instructions at step # 15.

Adding Non-Standard Form Sizes

Note: This section provides directions for creating bounding box sizes that allow you properly to frame odd page sizes so that you can print them on standard paper sizes while eliminating excessive margins.

  1. On your desktop task bar click on the [Start] button (to open your Windows menu).
  2. Click on Printers and Faxes (to open your Printers and Faxes window).
  3. Click on the menu bar option File (to open a drop-down menu).
  1. Click on the drop-down menu item Server Properties (to open the Print Server Properties window).
  1. In the Print Server Properties window, click on the check box to the left of Create a new form (to begin the process of adding a non-standard page frame size to your list).

    As an example, these instructions will add a 7" x 8½ " frame size to allow printing pages 7" x 8½" images as a signature booklet on 8½ x 14" paper.
  2. Type a name in the Form name field that you can later recognize as belonging to the non-standard sized form you are creating.
  3. Choose Metric or English units to match the units currently displayed on your printer.
  4. Enter the Width and Height values for Paper size, leaving the Printer area margins at 0.00in
  5. Click on the [OK] button (to enter these values and to close the Print Server Properties window).

Printing the Document

  1. On the menu bar, click on File (to open a drop-down menu).
  1. In the drop-down menu, click on Print Setup… (to open the Print Setup dialog box)

  1. In the Print Setup dialog box make the following selections:
Printer Name: Your Nuvera printer (to take advantage of the correct default margins and to avoid text reflow)
Paper Size: The page size that matches the size you read from Document Properties in step # 5 (to frame the page image properly and to avoid cropping or excessive margins)
Orientation: Portrait
  1. Click on the [OK] button to accept your values and (to close the Print Setup dialog box).

  1. On the menu bar, click on File (to open a drop-down menu).
  1. In the drop-down menu, click on Print… (to open the Print dialog box).

  1. In the Print dialog box, verify that your Nuvera printer is the selected printer.
  1. In the Print dialog box, click on the [Properties] button (to open the Document Properties dialog box).

  1. In the Document Properties dialog box, click on the Paper/Output tab (to show the basic job programming options).

  1. On the right side of the Paper/Output dialog, click on the Select Finishing scroll bar (to show the job finishing options drop-down menu).
  1. On the drop-down menu, click on Fold… (to open the Fold Selection dialog box).

  2. In the Fold Selection dialog box, click on the radio button next to 2 Staples and Booklet Fold and click on the [OK] button (to accept this selection and to close the Fold Selection dialog box).

  3. At the top of the Document Properties dialog, click on the Layout/Watermark tab (to open your layout selection dialog box).
  1. In the Page Layout area of the Layout dialog box, click on the radio button next to Booklet Layout (to enable image placement appropriate to your signature booklet).

  2. In the Layout dialog box, go to Page Layout Options and click on the box to place a check mark which will enable Fit to New Paper Size.
  3. Just below the Fit to New Paper Size selection, click on 8.5 x 11" Letter (to open a drop-down menu).
  4. From the drop-down menu, highlight the paper size of your final printed output (to select your paper stock and to close the drop-down menu).
  5. Click on the [Print] button to send your document in booklet layout format to your Nuvera printer.
