Configuring the Equipment

At the DocuSP/iGen3 Printer Controller

  1. On DocuSP 2.10 double-click on the icon called Prefs
On DocuSP 3.10, click on menu bar item Setup, drop-down menu item Preferences…
On DocuSP 3.6 and later, click on menu bar item Setup, drop-down menu item System Preferences…
  2. Click on the Save tab to open a file system browser.

Note: The field below the words Parent Directory is a filter you use to tell which folders you want shown in the large field directly below it. Your choice of Parent Directory is shown in the field below the list of folders on this screen.

  3. Click and drag across all of the characters in the field directly below the words Parent Directory, replace the characters with /var/spool (all lower case) and press your <Return> key to show the file structure within /var/spool.
  4. Click on the folder labeled XRXnps to select it, and click on the [Apply] button to accept that choice.
  5. Click on the [OK] button to close the System Preferences window.
  6. Open a terminal window and logon as root.
  7. At the # prompt, type ping followed by a space followed by the ip address of your DigiPath workstation. Press the <Enter> key.

Note: If you receive notification that the FreeFlowDigiPath's ip address is alive, the printer and the FreeFlow/DigiPath can "see" each other and you can continue through these steps.

If you receive notification of no answer from the FreeFlow/DigiPath, then you'll need to correct any routing and communication issues before continuing through these steps.
  8. At the # prompt, type cat /etc/hosts <Enter> (to display the hosts table on your screen.

The second line of this file contains the word loghost.

From this line copy the ip address and the hostname (case-sensitively) that appear before the word loghost. You will need this information to complete step #xx below.
  9. DocuSP 2.10 Only:
    At the # prompt, type
    /usr/openwin/bin/textedit /opt/XRXnps/bin/startGUI <Enter>
(to open the /opt/XRXnps/bin/startGUI file in a text editor).

Scroll to the line that reads ENABLE_SERVER=False. Click and drag over the word False and change it to True (case sensitive).

Scroll to the line that reads RESTART_SERVER=False. Click and drag over the word False and change it to True (case sensitive).
  10. Save the changes and close the text editor.
  11. DocuSP 3.7x and 3.8x:
At the # prompt, type cd /opt/XRXnps/bin <Enter>.

    Type pwd <Enter>
(to make sure you're at the /opt/XRXnps/bin directory).

If you are, at the # prompt, type ./setAPIServerState -t <Enter>

Note: At this point you will see a message, "A restart of the DocuSP software is required after changing the API Server state." Click on the [OK] button to acknowledge that you've seen the message. You won't need to restart the software at this time. You'll be doing that later.
  12. All versions:
    At the # prompt, type useradd -d /var/spool/XRXnps/saved/netagent -s /bin/csh -g xrxgrp xdoduser <Enter>
(to create the xdoduser user, make it a member of the xrxgrp group, assign a c shell and create the /var/spool/XRXnps/var/spool/netagent directory, and give xdoduser ownership and rights to it).
  13. At the # prompt, type passwd xdoduser <Enter>
    New password: xdodppp <Enter>
    Reenter password: xdodppp <Enter>
    (to change the xdoduser password).
  14. Close the terminal window.
