Setting up a CFA Data Push

Opening the Path From the Customer to Xerox

  1. Have the customer’s IT staff add the IP address of your DFE’s public side network interface card to their firewall routing table, avoiding permissions issues.
  2. If all ports have been blocked, have the IT staff allow http traffic on port 80 and https traffic on port 443 so that the PSIP and the DFE can communicate with the Xerox Communication Server (see Xerox Remote Services Security White Paper).
  3. If the customer uses a firewall proxy, obtain the domain name and port number to be used in a later step in this process.
Setting up the PSIP
  1. At the bottom-left corner of the screen, click on the up arrow (↑) to open a drop-down menu.
  2. Click on ‘Press Environment Monitor’ to open the PSIP’s web browser.
  3. In the browser’s menu bar, click on ‘Edit’ to open a drop-down menu.
  4. In the drop-down menu click on ‘Preferences’ to open the Preferences window.
  5. On the left side of the Preferences window, click on the ‘General’ icon.
  6. Click on the [Connection Settings…] button.
  7. Select ‘Manual proxy configuration’.
  8. Click in the ‘Use same proxy for all protocols’ checkbox.
  9. Knowing that your DFE is the proxy between your PSIP and the outside world, always set you proxy IP address to 10.40.101.31 and your port # to 8080.

Setting Up the DFE

FFPS

  4. Click on Setup/DFE Proxy to open the DFE Proxy Setup window.
  5. Always place a checkmark before Use HTTP Proxy Service.
  6. If customer uses a firewall proxy, place a checkmark before Use Customer Net Firewall Proxy, enter the proxy address and port.
  7. Take the host name you located in the second step of this section and type it into the field marked ‘DNS Name’.

Configuring Apache Proxy Server

The Apache Proxy Server software is automatically installed and configured for a direct connection every time the Spire color server software is installed.

If your network uses a proxy server, you must change the Apache Proxy configuration. See your Install Planning Guide, Appendix A. for your proxy settings.

To configure Apache Server for use with a proxy server:

  1. Stop the Apache server.
    1. Select Start>Programs>Apache HTTP Server>Control Apache Server>Stop.
  2. In Windows Explorer, go to the c:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache\conf folder.
  3. Double-click the httpd.conf file to open it.
  4. In the httpd.conf file, locate the line:
    # ProxyRemote * http://www.wb.xerox.com:8000
  1. Make the following changes to the line:
    1. Delete the # symbol at the beginning of the line.
    2. Change the text www.wb.xerox.com to your proxy server name or proxy server IP address.

The line should appear as follows:
      ProxyRemote * http://yourproxyservername:8000
  1. Close the httpd.conf file and save your changes.
  2. Start the server. Start > Programs > Apache HTTP Server > Control Apache Server > Start.
You have configured the Apache Proxy Server software to use with your network’s Proxy server.

Test your DFE access to the Internet

  1. Click on the DFE menu bar on ‘System’ and select ‘UNIX Terminal Window’
  2. Logon as root user.
  3. At the # prompt, type /usr/sfw/bin/Mozilla <Enter> or in later versions of FFPS, /usr/bin/firefox <Enter> to open your web browser.
  4. In the address bar, type http://www.xerox.com

Make sure your PSIP can see the CFA server

  1. In the PSIP browser, type the following URL:

    https://fccfa.xrxgsn.com/cfaHndler/cfaHandler.dll?ping
(iGen3 System Level 2.2 and lower)

    https://dcs.support.xerox.com/cfaHandler/cfaHandler.dll?ping
(iGen3 System Level 2.4 and higher and iGen4 all)
  2. If the Xerox server is visible and operating correctly, you should see something like this:
    Server

  3. If after following these instructions you are unable to connect to the Xerox CFA server, please call Xerox iGen 2nd level support for assistance.
